An Occitan party in favor of federalism
Joël Encontre joined the Occitan Party in the 2000s: “It’s to defend the autonomy and culture of Occitania.” Founded in 1987, the Occitan Party is a member of the Regions and Peoples in Solidarity federation. “I offer a new political opportunity: federalism,” he reports.
And to promote the expansion of a federal Europe, the candidate calls for true decentralization: “The idea is to give more power to the regions, so that Occitan can develop across the territory. The party also insists on transforming the Senate into a “Chamber of Regions.”
