The third way is once again the big winner of the elections
Hello everyone,
The APROFED association is coming back to you this week in the wake of the municipal elections which demonstrates, as with the legislative elections of 2024, that the 3rd way is not put aside (cf. The 3rd way is not put aside – APROFED ) contrary to what the current head of the local government, Mr Ponga, who was defeated in Kouaoua in the commune where he ran, had said.
Indeed, by adding the scores of the abstainers, where nearly one in two voters did not go to vote, with the scores of the so-called centrist parties representing this 3rd way , not counting the truly unaffiliated lists , built by citizens outside of political parties, we thus obtain more than 50% of the votes , denoting the rejection of the parties and current politicians who have become radicalized through their extremist speeches impacting the daily lives of Caledonians who de facto turn away from partisan politics.
It is unfortunate, however, that this was not reflected at the ballot box, once again. Perhaps in the next provincial elections?
The association finds it outrageous, not to say cowardly, that a large number of elected officials, like the current non-independence member of parliament in the last legislative elections, are running as independents or supporting independent candidates without necessarily saying so publicly in order to avoid being punished by voters. Of the 33 municipalities in New Caledonia, 17 new mayors were elected as independents, almost all of them in the non-independence province (South), with 12 out of 13 municipalities.
The association nevertheless welcomes the victory of certain lists known as “common destiny” integrating several communities within it, or even parties that are both pro-independence and pro-loyal, representing the true soul of New Caledonia and what we have been defending for 2 years.
