The Federated (or Associated) States of Oceania: a triple win project

Hello everyone,

The association is contacting you again this week following the upcoming rejection by the pro-independence parties of the supplementary agreement currently being discussed in Paris , which does not change the Bougival agreement in any way, except for a clearly proven blackmail by the State at the economic level with the transformation, in the event of acceptance of the said agreement, of the territory’s current loans contracted with France during the Covid crisis (at usurious rates) into subsidies (see Future of New Caledonia: what we know about the “supplementary agreement” being discussed in Paris ).

However, as repeatedly pointed out by the association, there is a regional alternative to France (cf. without France – APROFED ), that of our Oceanian neighbors, that of the “Federated (or Associated) States of Oceania”.

This solution would also be a triple win , both for:

– the European Union, which, in exchange for the independence of New Caledonia, could obtain a free trade agreement with the major Pacific Rim countries of Australia and New Zealand,

– Australia and New Zealand , the creation of a regional space in which they would be the leaders, possessing the largest EEZ in the world,

– and the Pacific islands which, in addition to obtaining their respective sovereignties, would thus become part of a larger, economically stronger entity.

The association believes that France’s decision never to grant independence to New Caledonia is also aimed at preventing the United States of Oceania project from ever coming to fruition, thus avoiding the strengthening of an economic competitor. As a reminder, Oceania is one of the fastest-growing regions in the world.

It would therefore be appropriate for the association for the various independence movements to express this demand both at the level of the assemblies of neighbouring countries such as Australia and New Zealand, but also within the European Parliament , rather than only at the UN.

Wishing you a pleasant read and reminding you that federalism is the only solution to reconcile unity in diversity.
