Libération article tracking

Hello everyone,

The APROFED association is getting back to you this week to forward two articles from the newspaper Libération.

The first one, dated today, notably recalls, via ISEE figures, the poverty rate in New Caledonia, which can reach more than 45% in certain municipalities. The article states that  the Kanak community is particularly affected by poverty;  a situation already noted by the members of the association and notified through their websites  www.apettit.nc  and  www.aldenc.nc , aimed at promoting and defending agriculture and local employment.

The second article, published in November 2023, follows a UNICEF France study deploring the fact that children overseas are much more disadvantaged than those in mainland France.

Added together, it is therefore not surprising for the association that the majority of the rioters are young people, sometimes minors, of Kanak origin.

The institutional context superimposed on this socio-economic situation was thus announced without surprise as we recall on our site at the following link  Who are we – APROFED  and as other authors like Luc Tournabien  in his work published in 2023 entitled:  “Kanaky New Caledonia, 40 years of emancipation… to better recolonize” recalled in one of his chapters entitled:  “2023-2024: violent conflict or friendly independence?”

You can find the two Libération articles cited above at the link below:

–  Poverty: Overseas children are much more disadvantaged than those in mainland France, deplores UNICEF – Libération (liberation.fr)

Wishing you a good read and reminding you that only federalism  would allow us to solve the current  Caledonian problem.
