Federalisms and New Caledonia – Actu.nc article
Hello everyone,
The APROFED association is getting back to you this weekend to send you an article from Actu.nc dated October 23 of this year entitled “Federalisms and New Caledonia” which you can find at the following link: “Federalisms and New Caledonia” | Actu NC
While the association welcomes this initiative, it regrets that the federal solution to the current problem of New Caledonia, which has already proven itself in the past in resolving conflicts, notably that of 1984, is not more widely taken up, studied and developed by the press.
As proof, the association has identified less than 10 articles on the subject for the year 2024 which you can find below:
Carine David: “In the constitutional field, we can do what we want” – DNC.NC
Générations NC presents to its supporters a federalism project in New Caledonia

Condemnations of federalism are unfounded | NC News
However, it should be remembered that the press constitutes what is called the 4th power, after the legislative, the executive and the judiciary. Its power is that of informing . Independent of the other 3 powers, it thus constitutes a counter-power to them and can thus formulate opinions and write articles with a different opinion . In New Caledonia, the association regrets that the press generally only relays current events and is not a driving force and more pro-active.
It would therefore be interesting, given the inability of our political representatives to find an agreement, for the press to issue and develop its own ideas through an exchange with the population and, within the framework of the federal solution, to inform Caledonian citizens in more detail so that they can form an idea of the concept and then support this solution or another with the elected representatives of the other powers seen above so that they can implement it.
We wish you a good read and remind you that federalism is the only solution to reconcile unity in diversity.
