“Federalism is neither a utopia nor a luxury, it is a political emergency.”

Frédéric Masquelier, LR mayor of Saint-Raphaël (Var), is organizing a debate on federalism in his town this July 4th. This is an opportunity for him to present his vision of what he believes to be a democratic and liberal solution. In France, it is viewed as a suspect word, as an attack on the unity of the Republic. Yet, elsewhere, it is synonymous with democratic vitality, institutional effectiveness, and respect for territories.
