Detailed comparison of events from 1984 to 2024 + full text of the Matignon-Oudinot federal agreement
Hello everyone,
The APROFED association is getting back to you at the beginning of this week to send you a summary table of the events of this year and those of 1984 ( Comparison 1984 – 2024) .
While reading this, you will be able to notice the rather disturbing similarity in the facts between these two periods, which are nevertheless 40 years apart.
The first two months of riots in 2024 correspond to the years 1984 and 1985.
The month of July 2024 and the following 2 months of the 3rd quarter (August-September) tend to correspond for the association to the years 1986 and 1987.
Hoping that the fourth and final quarter of 2024 will result in a political agreement for the association, similar to those of Matignon-Oudinot, without the tragic events of 1988 (hostage-taking).
You can find the full text of the Matignon-Oudinot agreements on our website under the “Downloads” section at the following link: Downloads – APROFED
You will be able to read that the agreements were designed to organize the administration and development of the territory of New Caledonia in a federal form. The association hopes that, like the Noumea Accords, which reinforced and completed this vision, the new status will be an extension of these by finalizing and enacting the federal status of New Caledonia in its relationship with France with a view to a lasting return to peace for at least the next 30 years.
Wishing you a good read and reminding you that federalism turns out to be the solution.
