Notice on candidacies for the elections of deputies

Hello everyone,

The APROFED association is getting back to you following the publication of applications for deputy positions in the National Assembly elections.

Some readers have asked us for our opinion on the matter.

In this regard, the association first points out that the electoral boundaries for this election were established with the aim of ensuring that no separatist would be able to access this position. Thus, participating in this election would amount to participating in a charade that could once again fuel the already high tensions in New Caledonia.

It is also worth remembering that the role of MPs for New Caledonia and the impact of their work is virtually nil. How many people would be able to name at least three tasks they have successfully carried out for the population? Furthermore, it is also worth remembering that historically, New Caledonian MPs of all persuasions have been rarely heard during the critical periods experienced by the territory. France always decides on its own based on its own interests.

And finally, let us not forget that all the non-independence candidates defended in one way or another the proposal to thaw the electoral body which led to the insurrection and the consequences that we are currently experiencing.

Thus, in conclusion, the association calls on all native Caledonians who are not pro-independence to either abstain or cast a blank or invalid ballot in these elections. However, these elections must be held under normal conditions, which is not currently guaranteed.

Wishing you a good day and reminding you that federalism is the only solution to the current Caledonian problem.
