Are we condemned to inaction?
“ Federalism and autonomy ” is considered an impossible project by Breton, Corsican, Basque, and Alsatian “ regionalists .” Yet, these are the natural organizational models of the states surrounding us: Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain… This idea is gaining ground. It returns power to citizens who aspire to be responsible and to pragmatically manage Brittany’s destiny. The Brittany region will manage only 2% of Breton taxpayers’ income in 2026. The German Länder manage 50% of their citizens’ taxes. We cannot be more crushed than we are now by the ever-increasing centralization, as the excellent journalist Francis Brochet so aptly explains in his recent and insightful book, “ When Parisianism Crushes France .” Let us finally put an end to the great lie that the State serves the equality of the French people. The State is monopolized by a fringe of the population and embodies only the territorial domination of Paris over the rest of France.
